The two phases of the 5 day reset are:
the fasting period when damaged cell parts and cells are cleared away from our bodies including our liver, kidneys, heart, immune system
refeeding when we get to eat again and new and turned-on stem cells go to work and rebuild our organs or our “system cells”

Today, our fasting circle completes our Fall 5 day reset. It’s my 11th round doing this and though I was expecting it to be a breeze like my last few rounds, I was surprised I ran into a really tough day midweek.
As I cooked meals for our daughter, I kept almost popping her food in my mouth. It served as a reminder of one of my key learnings from my very first round over two years ago: I put every piece of food I see in my mouth!
I just love to eat and ‘hungry’ is literally in my name: Jamie Chung Ryder (jamiechungryder). 🤓
If I keep eating without abandon, I likely won’t find myself in a good place in the future. Some call it ‘calorie poisoning’, others say we eat like the kings and queens of the past. Interestingly, they were the ones who suffered from the major chronic diseases that are unfortunately rampant today.
This is one of the reasons why I’ll continue to seasonally do this reset because fasting offers a plethora of benefits:
clears away damaged cell parts and cells from our organs
rebuilds and regenerates those parts of our organs with perfectly new stem cells
slows down aging
hunger hormones are fine-tuned (helping us to curb our appetite)
IGF-1 (insulin-like growth factor 1) stays low for months which can inhibit tumor growth
we become more insulin sensitive therefore optimizing our metabolic health

The best way to refeed is to eat what makes you happy. (Within the whole plant food world.) 😁 This will help you stay on the path of a healthy eating journey.
There’s nothing like Mom’s home cooking. 🥰 This is an Umma special that’s a perfect way to eat sweet potatoes - what Okinawans used to primarily eat (and largely because of it, had the longest-lived and healthiest people in human history!)
