13 things I’m grateful for right now
I get to prepare a great school lunch for our daughter with the help of prepackaged foods. The above consists of premade and seasoned rice from the freezer aisle at the grocery store, topped with mild Japanese chili oil (this stuff will get her to eat just about anything), and two small pieces of dark chocolate
Having a daughter who absolutely loves school (!)
My husband hosting a playdate for Elle and her bestie tonight so I can catch up with an old friend while she’s in town #daddydaycare
Sweaty, mind and heart-clearing power walks with Ruby who’s become my new personal trainer with her 65-pound Goldendoodle strength and puppy energy
Having electricity, water, and Internet access
A huge business merger closing for the company my husband works for
The ability to celebrate this major change should we choose to
Having chocolate in the house - the above one is okay but we also have one of the best chocolates I’ve ever had: Hu’s Crunchy Mint Dark Chocolate
No meetings all morning to be free to focus on my priorities. This afternoon I have a meeting with someone named Jason - time to hone my Friday the 13th jokes
A full house for next week’s fasting circle! (The next one will be in the Spring)
Excellent health even as I get older (or am I getting younger?) 🤔
Valuable education from Food Revolution who put together a value-packed online summit with exceptional speakers
Having agency (and extending grace when I don’t feel so strong)
“Agency is the sense of control that you feel in your life, your capacity to influence your own thoughts and behavior... Your sense of agency helps you to be psychologically stable, yet flexible in the face of conflict or change.”
-Pattison Professional Counseling and Mediation Center
The news and reality of the last week have been intensely emotional and the intensity is only heightening. Please take care of yourself and your loved ones focusing on what you can control.
